NFRW Winning Web of the Week
Republican Women of Hall -- Hall County, Georgia
www.RWhall.org
    RWH - separate page

Congratulations to the Republican Women of Hall (of Hall County, Georgia) on being selected as the NFRW Winning Web of the Week.

Whether yours is a young club, just getting started in your community, or a more mature club with a history of community involvement, one of the tools you should consider to help with your growth and communications is a website.  Websites serve two main purposes for a club; the website for the Republican Women of Hall meets and exceeds our expectations for both.  It provides a platform to keep current members informed, and it clearly welcomes visitors and prospective members.

This website uses typefaces that are easy to read.  The layout of the pages is carefully thought out so they are easy to read and navigate.  Photos and other images bring color and add interest.  Content is updated often so that website visitors can depend upon this as a valuable resource.

Of particular note is the timeliness of the information on the home page:  one of the first items noticed is the detail about the upcoming meeting.  (although it is not an aspect of the website itself, the Republican Women of Hall should also be commended for arranging programs that are timely and sure to be of interest to members and guests.)

The home page of this website (the single page of the majority of websites that is visited the most), is an outstanding example for others of what can be/should be included: welcome letter from the club president, contact information for the club officers, objectives of the club, link to application to join the club, information on upcoming meeting and program, links to the club’s Facebook page, the Georgia Federation of Republican Women, the NFRW, and to many other Republican organizations and interest groups.

For a small club with limited resources, a single page website, with the kind of information RW of Hall have provided on their home page, may be all that is needed.  For larger clubs, the http://www.rwhall.org website has several other pages that are good examples.  These pages are easy to find and access via the navigation bar near the top of each page

  • Join – the membership form itself, contact information, dues structure

  • Events – upcoming programs, recap of previous meet

  • News/Links – links to RW of Hall e-Newsletter, GFRW and NFRW publications,
and other popular publications, TV and radio shows

  • Elected Officials – names and contact information for the local, state and federal
elected officials that represent Hall County

  • Photo Gallery – nice recaps of several events with photos of club members and
guests. (note the use of the smaller thumbnail photos, to save space on the
website page, that are links to larger versions of the same photos)

  • Contacts – phone and email information about the officers of the club,
plus contact information for the GFRW and the NFRW

Club President Martha Zoller and Communications Secretary/Webmaster Bettye Chambers have done an outstanding job of creating and maintaining a club website that sets a high standard for other clubs in the NFRW.

NFRW Winning Web of the Week
Montgomery County Federation of Republican Women - Maryland
www.mcfrw.org/

Congratulations to Patsy Dillingham, President of the Montgomery County Federation of Republican Women, and to Agnes Carr, Web Administrator.  The ladies of MCFRW have designed a crisp and informative website that is user friendly, current with the updates about the six clubs in the county, and is now recognized as an NFRW Winning Web.

First impressions are always important.  And this website does not disappoint.  By using logos at the top of each page, there are clear links to the Maryland Federation of Republican Women and to the NFRW itself.  The navigation bar in the center of the page is easy to find and read, and facilitates quick movement through the website to information.  Just below the navigation bar are the names of the clubs, with links to their web pages within the MCFRW site.

It is important that a website is easy to read.  Too often those designing websites do not give consideration to the challenges which may be faced by those visiting their site.  The MCFRW is to be commended for their choice of typefaces, color and size.

Another factor that makes the MCFRW website easy to read and to use is consistency in layout and design.  The top portion of each page is exactly the same, followed by the variable information.  For lengthy pages, such as Leadership, the MCFRW provides links to the start points for different sections within the page.

The ladies of the MCFRW have every reason to be proud of their Home page with all its important information, the Membership page which makes it easy for prospective members to reach out to the clubs, the Calendar page with its links to events throughout the county, and the News and Links page with its useful links.

But my favorite part of the MCFRW website is the section with the pages from the six clubs.  The club presidents have posted information about their clubs.  There are photos of smiling women who are clearly enjoying their participation in the political process.  There are names and contact information for club officers.  There is information about upcoming events.  The net result is that if I were moving to Montgomery County, I would use this website to find my new club and join the ladies in supporting our shared Republican principles.

NFRW Winning Web of the Week
Republican Women of Purpose -  www.rwop.org  and www.RepublicanWomenOfPurpose.com
Shelby County, Tennessee

Congratulations to the Republican Women of Purpose in Shelby County, Tennessee.  They have a most informative and attractive website which has been selected as NFRW Winning Web of the Week by the Website Assistance Committee.  Congratulations to club president Pat Melvin and also to club member Carol Henderson who maintains the web site. This one more than meets the guidelines set forth for NFRW Winning Webs.

Below are some of the many outstanding features of this very active site which is updated  two or three times a week:

Home page gives an instant view of upcoming events and utilizes great photos of their members at various events.  The Home page also has important links on the left to their Twitter and Facebook page as well as links to other Tennessee Republican Groups and NFRW. These links are found on every page which is a great idea. They have a most attractive FB Profile picture and Cover photos.  It is most important that all clubs have some social network pages in addition to their regular website.

·     RWOP page has a drop down menu which includes important Club Activities, Club Programs, excellent Photo Gallery, Lunch Reservations, Membership Info & Form, 2012 Year In Review

·     Voter Registration Page is especially useful.  It includes Shelby county Voter Registration form and where to vote. Viewers can even look to see if they are already registered.

·     Calendar Page is current with links to read more about the events.

·     About Us Page includes effective drop down menus which quickly take the viewer to the president's message, list of board members and contact information.  It includes a telephone number, e-mail address, mailing address as well as a contact form. This is MOST important.

·     Newsletter Page includes monthly newsletters created in Microsoft Publisher – January 2012 through May 2013. An excellent job!

This organization is established in Germantown, TN and the county of Shelby.  Their general and board meetings are held each month in Germantown at Southwind Country Club.

Question presented  to
club president Pat Melvin: "How has your website benefited your club?"

I believe that the republicanwomenofpurpose.com a/k/a rwop.org deserves to be a “Winning Web of the Week” because of its serving value and success.  Our new website is a beneficial resource and is consistent with our mission to educate and inform. Information is current and useful and the design serves our club, community, state, and a nationwide audience. Our success is measured through our significant increase of “unique visitors” and “hits” as well as indicators that reveal we have reached audiences outside our community, throughout our state, and on a national level. The website benefits our members by keeping them current and informed on meeting dates, upcoming activities, news, and issues. It further aids our members to reach out to our community and show that we are an active club with open enrollment.

Any club which is searching for ideas for a good website will do well to look at this one which is not a template type site.

NFRW Winning Web of the Week
Tempe Republican Women  - www.TempeRW.org
Tempe, Arizona

Congratulations to Tempe Republican Women Club President Darryl Jacobson-Barnes and to Webmaster Jessica Merrow for the website they have created using WordPress, a program primarily for those who blog.  Their website meets the basic rules for recognition as a Winning Web: it is easy to read, easy to navigate, easy to access, consistent in layout and design, and quick to load.  Because the “blog” page is the “home” page, it is obvious the website is updated frequently with information which members and visitors to the website may find useful and informative.

In our review of the Tempe RW website, we found all their links worked.  As expected, links to other pages within the Tempe RW website are active.  But far too many websites provide links to outside resources or groups and then fail to monitor those links to be certain that, over time, they remain valid – Webmaster Jessica Merrow has done a very good job of verifying both internal and external links actually work.  Their Links page is undoubtedly a valuable resource to visitors to this website.

The Tempe RW website incorporates the Google calendar function.  And, by including the activities of other Republican groups in the area (such as College Republicans, county and legislative district Republicans), the Tempe RW website is becoming more and more valuable as a resource to their entire Republican community and not just the members of their club.

Because the contact information (phone number or email address) is not provided for the club officers and committee chairs, the Tempe RW has created an email at Gmail which is used by those making initial contact with the club.  This is a very good solution to  the concerns about safety and confidentiality that frequently causes ladies to not provide contact
information.  And, to help facilitate that initial contact by someone not already familiar with the club, the website includes a specific page that will send an email to the club.

April  9, 2013
NFRW Winning Web of the Week
Texas Federation of Republican Women - www.TFRW.org

Congratulations to State President Carolyn Hodges and to Holly Hansen, Michele Samuelson, Shannon Way, Courtney Forsell, and Cassie Daniel, the TFRW members who maintain the outstanding website for the Texas Federation of Republican Women.

This website meets and exceeds the basic requirements for a NFRW Winning Web.  It is easy to read, easy to navigate, and easy to access.  The overall layout and design is consistent through the website.  It is quick to load.  And Most Important Of All -- it is updated frequently.

Specifically, several aspects of the home page contribute to making the Texas Federation’s website worthy of recognition as a Winning Web and can serve as examples to others:

  • The background for the logo-banner at the top of the page is monochromatic, which helps highlight the name of the group in a contrasting color.  By judicious use of shading, the images provide visual interest but do not overwhelm the TFRW logo itself

  • The logo-banner, at the top of the pages in the website, includes the place for members to login to their secure portion of the website and it includes a search function for the website.  By including these two important features in the logo-banner, visitors to the website will always have quick access to them without having to return to a previous page.

  • In addition to the horizontal navigation links visible on each of the pages, the home page also includes a special, vertical set of links to the most visited pages.  The easier it is for website visitors to find what they are seeking, the more they will value the website and use it as resource.
  • The Texas Federation has combined rotating images of elected Republican women and iconic and recognizable scenes of Texas (such as the Alamo), with the powerful message that each of these women is a Republican Woman.   Photos of members is always more desirable than stock photos, of unidentified women, purchased on the internet.  By incorporating well known Texas landmarks, the TFRW is reinforcing their identity and their obvious pride in their state.
  • The inspirational message “Focus on the Outcome – Imagine Our Impact” which is directly below the horizontal navigation links, is noticeable because of the size and typeface used.  Use of too many different typefaces is discouraged because it disrupts the cohesive identify of a website.  In this instance, however, the Texas Federation uses this non-normal typeface in a limited number of instances to draw attention to an important point being made by the Federation president.
  • The body of the website page is divided into three columns.  The first one contains the Donate button, which leads to a page that facilitates on-line donations.  This column also includes links to help website visitors Get Involved, read about important News, and review their Mission.  Columns two and three provide space for short articles and the message from the President, with links to additional information.  Because of the exceptional job the TFRW has done, a casual visitor to the website could learn a great deal about the federation by reading and following the links provided on just the home page.

Some of these most popular pages are Get Involved, Find a Club, Calendar, What is TFRW, Media (which has integrated video clips as well as archived copies of their excellent newsletter), Helpful Links, and Contact Us.   Each of these provides useful information for prospective members or those considering moving to Texas and looking for a group of Republican women.  We want to draw attention to the Find a Club page where the website visitor starts with a map of Texas.  After clicking on the geographic area of interest, the visitor will be led to links to the pages of clubs.  It appears those clubs without a website of their own have a Facebook page.

The other pages of Texas FRW’s website are as impressive as their home page.  The names, titles, and contact information for members of their Board of Directors are easily available.  Their Find a Form page has links to downloadable forms and instructions for everything from installation of officers, to awards and internships, to programs such as the Dictionary Project and their Legislative Day.

Arizona Federation of Republican Women - www.AZFRW.com

C
ongratulations to the leadership of the Arizona Federation of Republican Women for creating a most informative new website!  The information on the home page not only welcomes viewers, but is VERY current with its upcoming events and items of most interest to members and visitors.

The About page contains list of officers and regions, legislative updates, scholarships, how to join and more.  State Meetings are all listed on one page and another page for AzFRW Conventions 2013.  Their special page for NFRW Conventions is most informative and includes the information about the 2013 convention in Louisville, Kentucky and the 2015 national convention in Phoenix, Arizona!  Newsletters page contains an archive of their federation newsletters and also a link to NFRW Magazines.  Links and Resources contains links to all news and government resources of interest to Republican women -- National and State levels.  Photo Gallery page is a must view!  Love the fact that each event slide show has musical background -- one of my personal passions. Members Only page includes important internal information:  lists of committee chairs with e-mails, Arizona Federation Rules, Bylaws, Biennial Convention policies
AzGOP State Party Bylaws (2013), NFRW Rules and Bylaws, Leadership Guides and Training manuals -- and much more. Items on this page were recently updated which is critical to the effectiveness of any website.

Arizona Clubs Page. Outstanding feature of this site are the  26 individual web pages created by the federation for each club in the state!  On all of these club pages contact information is readily available including names of officers, locations, e-mail addresses, links to their Facebook and club sites and photos. Excellent job on this feature.

Special congratulations to AzFRW President Mary Williams who built and maintains the website which is hosted at Go Daddy, an Arizona  business. This takes a tremendous amount of time for a busy federation president. GREAT job!

NFRW Winning Web of the Week
Oklahoma City Republican Women’s Club --
www.OKCRWC.org

One of the first pages visited was “About” because we expected it to provide some general information about the OKCWRC – and we were not disappointed.  In clear and concise text the ladies clearly outlined the purpose of their club and referenced that they are a part of the Oklahoma and National federations.

But most impressive of all was the large and colorful box called “Ready to Join” with its links to the downloadable membership application form, to the “contact us” page, and to the schedule of upcoming events and meetings.  These are three of the most important items visitors to a website are seeking.  And they were all given prominence on this website.

The newsletter page is well done.  It provides quick links to past issues, which are always a source of information for prospective members wanting to learn more about a club and its activities.  Another key item of interest to prospective members is the page of photographs of the members.  The OCRWC has an entire page devoted to photos, all nicely organized by year.  And when viewed in the “album” mode one can see the captions that identify the many events of importance to the club.

The club has also provided links to other, non-club information that is valuable for members and non-members alike.  This includes the National GOP platform of 2000, how to register to vote and a link to the downloadable form, a list of the state’s elected officials with photos and contact information, and a list of other important Republican organizations such as the Oklahoma and National federations.

Northwood Republican Women of Dallas County Texas
www.northwoodrepublicanwomen.com/
Congratulations to the women of the Northwood Republican Women in Dallas, Texas, for a most attractive and informative website as they celebrate their 40th anniversary this year! They have used color and graphics that quickly catch the eye of website visitors.
  • Home page. The attractive Home page welcomes visitors, invites membership with an easy link to application as well as links to their Facebook page and You Tube videos. The link to “Tell A Friend” is on the home page and EVERY page on the website. This is a great idea complete with Visual Security Code.
  • Images page.  Photos of club members and guests paint a vivid picture of recent club events. Links to even more great photos on pdf pages is a great idea.
  • History page and Newsletter pages These tell the story of this very active club.
  • Contact page.  E-mail links to all officers and committee chairmen is most important.
  • Links page.  Impressive graphic links to key Republican organizations is very useful.
  • Membership application. Special tab for this page makes it easy for potential members to access this form.
  • Events page.  Events list election dates and a reminder that the club is down in June and July. An e-mail will be sent to all members concerning the August events.

Congratulations to club president Mary McElvany and web master Carolee Blumin for putting together an eye catching and easy to navigate website. In this most important election year in our history their website is an appealing communication tool to spread their message -- "WE DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!"

April 17, 2012
Winning Web of the Week
North Shore Republican Women of Lake Conroe, Texas
http://www.nsrepublicanwomen.org/

In an era where the use of templated websites has made it so easy for groups to have a presence on the vast internet, our congratulations go to North Shore Republican Women President Irene Kerr and Webmaster Ann Kate for taking their club’s website beyond the “start here” point initially available.

Of course the first thing one notices is the name and logo of the club.  These are not only colorful, they are clear and legible.  In fact, Webmaster Ann Kate has done an outstanding job in insuring that the text on all the pages is easy to read.  This is vital because many of the younger ladies view websites on their cell phones and many of the older ladies have eyesight challenges.  We certainly wish more webmasters paid attention to this aspect of website design and maintenance.

Immediately below the banner is the navigation bar.  Evidence has shown that website visitors won’t click more than a couple of times to “drill down” to find the information they are seeking.  Those that don’t find their answer rapidly, leave the website.  Certainly not the case here.  With the North Shore Republican Women, the navigation links are well thought out and easy to follow.  This website has much useful information and the well-done navigation makes it possible to find
it quickly!

Websites that are current and updated frequently are valuable to their visitors.  The NSRW deserve commendation for clearly meeting that need.  A visitor can easily find information about upcoming events.  But, the NSRW also highlights past activities with their great photo page and with various articles, such as scholarships page and the NSRW activities page, elsewhere in the website.

If I were moving to the Lake Conroe area, I would want to seek out the ladies in the NSRW because they are active in supporting Republicans and, judging by the smiles on their faces, having fun.

Congratulations to the North Shore Republican Women for this well-deserved recognition as the NFRW’s Winning Web.

NFRW Winning Web of the Week  -- Colorado Federation of Republican Women www.coloradogopwomen.org/

Congratulations to the Colorado Federation of Republican Women for developing one of the most informative and thorough websites which has come our way.   From the Message of President Perry Buck on the home page to the Contact page, these ladies have covered it all:  About CFRW – Programs – Events – 2012 Elections – Government – Political – Links – Member Center – Contact.

The following items are on every page: Upcoming Events/Registration, Find a Club, Subscribe to News Feed, and Subscribe to E-mail Updates. This
is an excellent idea since these are perhaps THE most important items. The 2012 Election page is of special interest this year with its Candidate Directory, Election Calendar, Congressional Districts maps as well as Colorado House and Senate maps. The Member Center Link with Monthly Club Reports and Forms, Handbook, By-Laws, and Colorado Club Directory are most important items for members and visitors. On the About page, it is great to see so much contact information for all officers and board members – e-mail, telephone and mobile phone numbers. On the News page the archived past issues of the Tusk Talk Newsletters going back to 2006 is very impressive!

Debra Elliott, CFRW Website Administrator, is to be congratulated on a job well done for including a wealth of information in an attractive and easy to navigate design format for the Republican Women of Colorado.   Please visit www.coloradogopwomen.org/ to view a great RW website which is a wonderful source of information for all Republican women in their state.

Our only suggestion for improvement would be to add more digital photos of members, officers and events.  Perhaps a photo gallery page would be a good addition.

  • Three members are assigned to take digital photos for the website at all Republican women events. These are posted on the Photo Gallery utilizing a most interesting video format.
  • This website provides a free webpage for clubs who wish to take advantage of it. Links to those
clubs with their own websites are listed at http://www.ohfrw.com/links.html

    http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=86881594685  and Twitter http://twitter.com/#!/@OFRW
  • Contact and message forms readily available including online forms, registration and Pay Pal links for on-line payment.
  • This site contains a most important Site Map, Site Search and Site Index.
  • Site also has a page for the Ohio Republican Women Online (ORWO) -- the first operational statewide online Republican Women’s Club in the USA

Federation President Jean Turner sums it up very nicely:  "Ohio’s website was previously very limited. I am sure this new wonderful tool has helped bring us four new clubs in 2010 and 2011. Our clubs are so grateful for the free publicity we provide for their events.  As President of OFRW I have heard SO many wonderful comments about our website and our webmaster, even at the NFRW Board Meeting!  We are so thankful for Lyn’s talent and many hours she spends doing this website."

Congratulations to
President Jean Turner, Lynn Bliss and the Ohio Federation for a great professional ob on their website which has great eye appeal, is well organized and easy to navigate.  Our website assistance committee was very impressed and suggests that this site might be used as a model for other federations in setting up or re-building their websites.

NFRW Winning Web - Longmont RW - Colorado
www.LongmontRepublicanWomen.org

Wow!  What a delight to read the Longmont RW website. My initial impression about the first thing I read was that it had little to do with the club, but it offered insight into the thinking of the club president.  Boy, was I wrong.  Although the article was lengthy and took some time to read, it was a great indicator of the energy of the club and their focus on their club purpose.  I should mention that there was a break of couple of weeks between my first visit to the Longmont RW website and the final one before writing this review.

Even after that break, Cage’s Corner (which had changed during my absence) continued to impress
me.  If you have a few moments, I encourage you to read it.  You, too, will come away inspired to continue working to promote our Republican principles.
  • Events page: As expected, the Events page includes information/links for the activities of other
groups and RW clubs.  What a wonderful resource for everyone in the area.  And even though
the Longmont RW will not meet during June, July and August, they are posting on their website
information about events being held by other Republicans.  The ladies may take a break but they
clearly are continuing to take seriously their club motto which says, in part, “Inform and Empower”.

  • Election pageAlong those lines, visitors to the Longmont RW website should check out the
Election page.  One of the LRW members worked with a fellow volunteer to put together a very
good set of materials and explained what they did for their precinct.  It includes everything from a
brochure they created, to the “sorry we missed you” note, to the article they wrote for the Homeowners Association newsletter.  If someone is unsure of what to do or how to begin, this page is full of ideasthat can help.  And—best of all—these materials are presented on the website page in a logical order with links to the Word or Adobe versions.  It is like having a training manual just a click away.

  • Members only section: There are a couple of aspects of the Members Only section that other
clubs in the NFRW should consider:
Because this is password protected and not available to visitors, the club is able to make available the home mailing addresses and the email addresses of their members.  And they have done so in a way that this information can be easily used by club members who want to share information with fellow club members.  What a Great Idea!!

  • Club business cards with logo. GREAT idea! Many of us have, or wished we had, business
cards with our club logo on it.  The Longmont RW provide the template with their logo and instructions to their members on exactly how to create and print these.  With just a little bit of effort, all of their members can have business cards to distribute to prospective members or others interested in learning more about Republican Women.

Club President Peg Cage and Webmaster Peggy Knight deserve a nice Thank You for the work they have put into this and for their success in creating an NFRW Winning Web of the Week.  Well done, ladies, well done!

NFRW Winning Web of the Week  www.fayetterepublicanwomen.org
Fayette County RW Club - Kentucky

Congratulations to the Fayette County RW Club (Kentucky)webmaster, Kathye Schattner, and to club president,  Barbara Ellerbrook, on one of the outstanding club websites in the National Federation of Republican Women! The friendly tone, recaps of past speakers and past activities are very well done. Other positive “features” were links to their Facebook page in several places and the opportunity for viewers to use PayPal to pay dues or make lunch reservations through this convenient service.

The Links page is nicely organized, which makes it easy to find a specific group and link.  Other RW clubs and federations could learn from the Fayette County RW on how much more useful this makes the page to visitors to the website.

If I were moving to their area and looking to join a group of Republican Women, these items clearly show that the Fayette County women are an active and vibrant club.  And if you have any doubts, just check out the huge smiles in the images on their Photos page.

The NFRW Website Assistance Committee LOVES this site! Congratulations to the Cactus Wren Republican

photograph of the Cactus Wren followed immediately by the clever CWRW logo with the words "Advocate,
Inspire, Mentor." What a great first impression for a new visitor to the website.

Some of the many outstanding features:

  • Very pleasing graphics, well branded, clear who they are and who they are affiliated with

  • Photos to show them in action and create interest in the visitor to join
  • Site very easy to navigate- quick and clear navigation

NFRW Winning Web of the Week
Sacramento RW Federated - Northern Division

California
www.sacramentorwf.org

Congratulations to the women of the Sacramento Republican Women Federated Northern Division for developing a very attractive and informative website for their club. Janet Gardner, President of the Sacramento RWF, does an excellent job of maintaining this site - www.sacramentorwf.org .

Visitors to their site are given vital club information on the nine major pages. These pages utilize effective drop down menus which do a great job of navigating visitors to many more specific pages. The ABOUT SRWF page allows direct e-mail to the President plus a web form for e-mail from the website and a map for directions.  The President's Message and Annual Report are very effective.  Another important feature is the ability to renew membership or join on line. Their Members Only section is another important and useful feature. The revolving photos of their flags and capitol building in the headers of each page is an attractive eye catcher.  The tools in the upper right corner of each page offer very useful features--increased text size, printing and emailing of the web page.

They use the Ohana Web Editing Tool as noted in the URL of each web page. The Website was designed
and hosted by Creative Computer Services.

The Sacramento RWF are to be commended on a very effective web presence. -- The NFRW Website Assistance Committee,  Bettye Chambers, Chairman

NFRW Winning Web
Marion County Republican Women- Mississippi

www.marioncountyrw.com

The ladies (and associates) of the
Marion County Republican Women deserve a commendation for their fine website.  It meets and exceeds our expectations for an NFRW Winning
Web.

First – this website is easy to read and navigate.  All the important information, such as upcoming
activities and club meetings as well as how to reach officers via email, is just a click away from what-ever
page you happen to be on.  And so there is no confusion as to the purpose of the group, they clearly state
their objectives on the home page that visitors will see first.  Plus, on that same home page, they have
included a photo of women at the recent MFRW convention – women who appear to be smiling and proud to be members of the MCRW.

The next page I visited was the “Membership” page where I learned there are 110 in their club.  This is
certainly an achievement and I was delighted to see that information placed so prominently on the page.
Way to go, Ladies!!  The “Membership” page also includes an online form for those who are interested in
joining the club.  And because they make it so easy, there is every reason to believe the club’s membership numbers will continue to grow.

Each of the succeeding pages I visited (from “News” to “Schedule” to “Newsletter” to “TARS”) included
enough information to grab my interest but not so much that I was overwhelmed. The Marion County RW
have done an outstanding job of editing their content.

From a personal perspective, one of the features I enjoyed the most was the quotes from famous Americans.  These are spread throughout the website and can serve as an inspiration to us all.  For those who may not have the opportunity to visit the Marion County RW website, let me share the one, currently on their home page, from General Robert E. Lee:  “Do your duty in all things.  You cannot do more, you should never wish to do less.”

Congratulations to the club members and Donna Rackley, Site Administrator and Club President of
Marion County Republican Women, Marion County, Mississippi

NFRW Winning Web
Louisiana Federation of Republican Women
www.LFRW.org

Congratulation to the Louisiana Federation of Republican Women for developing one of the most professional and attractive websites which we have examined for the Winning Web of the Week  project.
It utilizes all of the features needed to draw visitors and present an attractive colorful web
presence filled with useful and informative information.

The first things to catch the attention of the visitor are the revolving photos of their own elected women officials and some club members.  The information is very current and updated several times a week.
Contact forms and information is readily available in numerous places. Effective use of photos and photo galleries, newsletters, links to all 42 clubs and committees, member spotlights, e-mail signup and awards
are just some of the outstanding features.  Federation news and calendar are front and center on their home page. They also make effective use of Facebook and Twitter which is now so popular. This site also uses
PHP scripting language for dynamic effects.

The site is maintained and updated frequently by Corresponding Secretary, June Williams, who is the webmaster. She is assisted by LFRW's Executive Administrative Assistant, Betty LeBlanc. Congratulations to Federation President, Argiro Morgan, and her federation on a first class website which is very easy to navigate.   www.LFRW.org   Click here to view the LFRW application for NFRW Winning Web.

If you are planning on building a RW website, this is one that you might want to emulate

NFRW Winning Web of the Week
Washington Federation of Republican Women
www.WFRW.org

The Washington Federation has created a most informative and attractive website with the intent to use the growing popularity of the internet to provide a central place where members and non-members can quickly and easily find timely information about the Federation and the member clubs.  It is impressive that this site is frequently updated daily or at least weekly which is MOST important.  Upon opening the home page, visitors instantly read
all about the next upcoming events and do not have to wonder through various pages to search for this information.  Information on upcoming events, bylaws, newsletter, addresses of board members, and informative articles by Committee chairs or WFRW officers are also featured.  One of the major highlights is the effective use of photos including the officers and board of directors featured at the top of all pages.  This is much more appealing than the standard template women photos seen on so many sites. There are also fun photo pages, such as the Snow Page created after the big storms last winter. Last fall the WFRW webmaster added a temporary special section featuring favorite book reviews by the Washington State Attorney General, Secretary of State and National Committeewoman to showcase the NFRW Literacy Month.

This website is one more tool to assist the Washington Federation in marketing and communication. It is definitely an asset to the Federation.  Congratulations
to Eileen Sobjack, President of WFRW. who submitted this application. Also, many thanks to their member and webmaster, Patsy Excell, for a great job.

NFRW Winning Web
Wood County Republican Women, Parkersburg
, West Virginia
.www.woodcountyrepublicanwomen.blogspot.com

The ladies of the Wood County Republican Women saw the need for
a presence on the internet and responded with a blog that is informative, updated frequently, and a delight to read.  They have incorporated numerous photos highlighting their activities (from participating in their state federation’s day at the legislature, to folding flags for the pocket flag project, to hosting events and forums where voters in Wood County can learn more about candidates).
Their blog is also visually appealing. This is another fine example for clubs in the NFRW who are considering how to take advantage of the opportunities of the internet without spending big bucks on webhosting. website design and maintenance.
Thanks to
Club President Deidre Lake , who also maintains this BlogSpot
website for their club
.

www.darkegopwomen.blogspot.com

Congratulations to the ladies of the Darke County Women’s Republican Club in Greenville, Ohio, on utilizing the technology of blogs to create their club’s website.  They have included photos of past activities and invitations to future gatherings. They have also included numerous links
to websites that may be of interest to those who visit.  This is a good looking site that is visually appealing.  Take a look at
www.darkegopwomen.blogspot.com Club President Margaret Muhlenkamp has verified that this is the official website of the club.  Publicity Chairman/Blogmaster and club member: Barbara Martin

What a great start for a club that is beginning to use the internet to reach out to existing and prospective members.  Google Blogspot offers templates and user-friendly tools so clubs can quickly and easily design and maintain a page without special training.
